About Pure Food Aquaponics
We are a new small family homestead and began building an aquaponics greenhouse garden to provide our family with quality food using no pesticides and harmful additives, setting up the system within a 1,200 sq ft greenhouse in mid 2015. Since that time, we have decided to share, to teach others how to grow aquaponically, as well as making our produce available to others whenever available.
Aquaponics involves raising fish (we have Koi) and plants together symbiotically. In our system, we grow herbs and vegetables. A single pump and gravity move water round in a closed loop system from the fish (who produce nutrients) to the vegetables and herb beds that require nutrients. This system only uses 10% of the water normally required to grow plants. It also ensures (due to keeping the water with no toxins) that all the vegetables grow as naturally as possible without harmful pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
We offer family or group tours to look and learn about the system - by appointment.
We also offer a limited amount of Koi fish for sale.
